About me.
Hi! I’m Jayson! I recently graduated from Grinnell College with a double major in Computer Science and Anthropology and a concentration in Digital Studies. During my time at Grinnell, I was also a CS tutor and a goalkeeper. I love playing video games, crafting, and photographing insects in my free time!
In summer 2024, I completed a research project at Grinnell where I identified communities of interest in Iowa at the census block level. I analyzed American Community survey 5-year estimate data using clustering algorithms and GIS software, and presented my results at the 2025 Joint Mathematics Meeting in Seattle.
In summer 2025, I worked on the Mapping Freedom NSF-REU program at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. I analyzed letters to MS governors during the Reconstruction area to evaluate federal aid distribution following the Flood of 1874. I then created webmaps showing statewide aid requests and distribution.
